The Institute for Humane Studies offers grants for entrepreneurial faculty to support their undergraduate programming and teaching in the classical liberal tradition.
Eligible projects can include mentorship, reading groups, discussion colloquia, student symposia, and innovative requests that help students with their research and conference presentations or enable undergraduates to explore and apply classical liberal ideas.
If you’re planning to host public lectures, please consider incorporating opportunities for students to engage with the speakers in a meaningful way, such as reading groups or pre-event/post-event meetings with the speakers.
While we understand that your programming will evolve over time, we request that you provide a preliminary lineup of speakers, readings, and discussion topics at the time of your application. Please provide the budget breakdown for each planned activity.
All grants include access to ScholarsEdge digital tools, including registration support, to help you run successful programming.
Please note the next application cycle opens on March 13, 2026. The application deadline is June 15, 2026. Decisions will be announced by August 7, 2026.
Please Note: IHS grants cannot support institutional overhead or indirect costs.
