Matthew Kuchem

Director of Coalition Partnerships

Dr. Matthew Kuchem is the director of coalition partnerships for the Institute for Humane Studies, where he develops high-level strategy, engages external partners, and provides thought leadership for IHS’s liberalism, pluralism, democracy, and higher education initiatives.

Matt previously served as the associate director of the Bipartisan Policy Center’s Campus Free Expression Project. Prior to joining BPC, he was assistant professor of political science at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota, where he specialized in political philosophy and American politics and served on faculty leadership. He has also served on the faculties of Indiana University, Bloomington, and DePauw University. 

Matt earned an M.A. and Ph.D. in political science from Indiana University, Bloomington and a B.S. in Political Science and Broadcast Journalism from Union University in Tennessee.
