Scott Barton is Director of Online Education at the Institute for Humane Studies.  Over the past two years, he has led the Institute’s Learn Liberty venture, creating a dynamic new online education resource that is bringing the ideas of liberty to millions of students. 

Scott joined IHS in 2004 as a program assistant, went on to direct the Institute’s Koch Summer Fellow Program for three years, and graduated to overseeing IHS’s suite of career-development programs for students aspiring to careers in policy, journalism, and nonprofit leadership. In 2011, Scott rose to a new challenge when IHS decided to take its long-standing educational capability online.

An alum of IHS himself, Scott graduated from Grinnell College with a BA in philosophy.  His academic interests include ethics, political philosophy, and political economy.
