Amanda Brand

Academic Placement Officer

Amanda was Director of Academic Programs from 2002 until 2007, and recently rejoined IHS as an Academic Placement Officer focused on connecting academic alumni with career opportunities.  Prior to her return, Amanda served as Vice President of the Institute for Educational Advancement, an educational organization based in South Pasadena, California that provides programs and services for gifted youth.  In addition to a background in non-profit management, she also has experience in sales and marketing, personal and professional coaching, and manuscript editing.

Amanda graduated magna cum laude from Georgetown University and has a master’s degree in philosophy from Columbia University.  As a graduate student, she benefited from an IHS Humane Studies Fellowship and participation in an IHS summer seminar.

Amanda lives at the beach in Southern California and spends her free time reading, writing, reveling, traveling, movie-going, beach-combing, and driving her convertible up the coast to Malibu.
