SOUTHERN ECONOMICS ASSOCIATION MEETINGS - NOVEMBER 22, 2013
The Institute for Humane Studies will be offering an afternoon Career Development Seminar for graduate students attending the Southern Economic Associations Meetings. This program is intended to help graduate students navigate their degree programs while becoming productive scholars, form an effective research program leading into their dissertations/thesis work, prepare to enter the academic job market, and successfully launch a career in classical liberal ideas.
Topics to be covered at this seminar include:
- Maximizing your productivity in grad school
- Understanding peer review and the path to publication
- Navigating the academic job market
- Who gets invited to the academic interview and why?
- Dealing with ideological bias in the academy
This half-day program will run on Friday November 22 from 3:30 PM to 9:30 PM, concluding with a keynote plenary session, reception and dinner.
