Charles G. Koch Summer Fellow Program

The Charles G. Koch Summer Fellow Program combines a paid public policy internship with two career skills seminars and weekly policy lectures. You’ll gain real-world experience, take a crash course in market-based policy analysis, and hone your professional skills. The intensive ten-week program begins in June and includes a $1,500 stipend and a housing allowance.

Program Elements

  • 10-week program: June 4 – August 12, 2011
  • Eight-week internship at a state or federal policy organization
  • Week-long career and policy seminars, before and after the internship
  • Weekly lectures on popular policy issues
  • Professional resume review
  • $1,500 stipend plus housing assistance

  • Open to undergraduate, recent graduates, and graduate students

Two Policy Tracks

Internships are available at more than 100 think tanks and nonprofits involved with state or federal policy located across the United States.

  • State Policy – Intern at a State Policy Network think tank in one of more than 34 states. Influence legislation and analyze regulations at the state level. Help publish articles, editorials, or letters in state or local papers. Choose from more than 45 organizations including Texas Public Policy Foundation, Goldwater Institute, and Mackinac Center for Public Policy. Learn more »
  • Federal Policy – Intern at one of more than 40 Washington, DC, organizations. Help reduce the size and scope of the federal government. Choose from a range policy issues: Americans for Tax Reform strives to reduce taxes; Drug Policy Alliance wants to end drug prohibition; Environmental Literacy Council promotes free market environmental solutions.
