Current Research Workshops bring an untenured faculty member before a panel of distinguished scholars for a day-long workshop. Two experts provide formal commentary on the young scholar's current research. The objective of the program is to assist in the production of high-quality academic scholarship.
"Throughout the day, George Kateb consistently asked me the toughest, most exacting questions. . . . By the end of the Workshop, I was exhausted - especially from trying, however feebly, to answer his strong challenges. I was very surprised at the end of the day when George warmly shook my hand and told me how well he thought I'd done. I was even more surprised to receive a letter from him a week later, congratulating me again."- Professor John Tomasi, Brown University
"The format of these workshops is unique in my academic experience, and very useful for young scholars presenting their work. Or rather they would be unique, but for the fact that, since participating in one in 1989, I have attempted to replicate the model at both Cornell and Columbia. They provide a kind of intense, focused, sustained engagement with the young scholar's work that is much more beneficial than the ordinary style of conference or workshop presentation."- Professor Jeremy Waldron, Columbia University
