Liberty and Current Issues

How do classical liberal ideas translate into sound public policy? This seminar considers how the libertarian tradition can help frame responses to current policy questions and problems. Participants analyze emerging policies in light of their bearing upon individual liberty. Ideal for students and recent graduates with a beat on current events and interest in policy-related careers.

Liberty & Current Issues seminars explore classical liberal thought in the context of contemporary problems and events. Participants interact with fresh economic, legal, and philosophical insights from top faculty regarding possible solutions to challenges facing our society today. Students gain deeper understanding of government workings and develop critical thinking skills by analyzing emerging policies  and their bearing upon individual rights. Central questions of the week include:

Is there a consistent framework for evaluating current policy solutions?
How do classical liberal ideas contribute to understanding health care, immigration, the deficit, and other issues?
