IHS Journalism Internship Program

Journalism & a Free Society Career Workshop

Lecture HallAn important part of the internship program is the Journalism & the Free Society summer seminar. The seminar usually occurs in early June on a college campus in the United States. Interns from all three session—fall, spring, and summer—attend the seminar.

Please check your calendar before applying to the internship program since all journalism interns are required to attend the seminar. IHS provides lodging, meals, and travel costs for all interns.

The seminar has a mix of lectures, workshops, discussion-groups, and social activities. Practicing journalists will teach many of the lectures and talk about their experiences and offer career advice. There will be several lectures on contemporary economics and political science as they relate to journalism. You will get a chance to meet and network with other journalism interns as well as with faculty and the internship program’s staff.

You may apply to both the internship program and the workshop. If you are accepted to the seminar but not the internship program, you will have to pay your travel costs to the seminar.
