Research and Writing Projects for Summer Fellows

Throughout the summer, fellows have the opportunity to research and write on policy issues with the guidance of senior policy analysts and a professional editor.

Writing & Publishing

A professional editor works with the Fellows on several writing projects throughout the summer, including letters to the editor and opinion-editorials. Fellows may also write for publication at their internship hosts. With the help of the editor and through their internships, most Fellows secure several publications during the summer.

Research Teams

Each Fellow participates in a team research project on a specific policy issue. The teams present their work during the final seminar, where they are cross-examined by policy experts and their peers.

Past research topics have included:

  • Hate Speech: Drawing the Line Between Free Speech and Harm
  • Redefining the U.S.'s Relationship with Jordan
  • Incentives, Crime, and Drug Prohibition
  • Review of Current Education Reform Proposals
  • Media Market Consolidation
  • Phasing Out Sugar Subsidies
