Application Process

The deadline to apply has passed, but there’s still time to apply for the Hayek Fund for Future Scholars which reimburses graduate school application fees and the Hayek Fund for Scholars which awards up to $750 for graduate student research or conference fees.

If you applied, decisions will be announced on May 1st via email.

The deadline to apply is January 31, 2013. Applications must be submitted through our online application system. You can review the application questions before you start your application. You can also start and save your application and submit it at a later time. If you have not already registered on TheIHS.org, the application requires a short registration process.

Supporting documents must be uploaded to the application as electronic files. We no longer accept supporting materials by mail. Please begin collecting supporting materials early, as certain items may take time to compile. Instructions for how to submit supporting materials are listed at the end of the online application.

You will be required to list at least one (and up to three) recommenders on your application. We will send requests to these recommenders for their letters of recommendation once your application is submitted. The deadline for your recommenders to submit recommendations back to IHS is February 15, 2013.

You will be able to check the status of your application, upload additional documents, provide updates, and change your recommenders in your IHS account.

There is a $25 application fee that can be paid by credit card. If you cannot pay by credit card, please notify us before you submit your application. We will handle requests on a case-by-case basis. Payment instructions appear at the end of the application.

Applicants who apply by January 5th can waive the $25 application fee by using the code HSFJan5 upon submission.
