Mario Villarreal, a former Fulbright fellow, is a professor and Research Chair in Strategic Intelligence at the Public Policy Graduate School at the Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Monterrey, Mexico, and an Affiliated Senior Scholar at the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
Before joining Monterrey Tech, professor Villarreal was a research fellow at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington DC, where he did research on health and pharmaceutical economics, entitlement programs, economic development, and political economy issues. His professional experience includes numerous research and consulting projects for both the private and public sectors, particularly on issues of regulation, industrial organization, and the provision of public goods. In 2005, he received his Ph.D. in Economics and Political Science from Claremont Graduate University. When he is not thinking about economics and politics, you can find him at the nearest soccer field, playing the real foot-ball game. »
