John Shiffman covers the federal courts for the Philadelphia Inquirer. He previously worked at The Tennessean in Nashville and the News-Press in Fort Myers, Fla. His honors include the Thurgood Marshall Journalism Award, the Malcolm Law Award for Investigative Reporting and the ACLU-Tennessee Bill of Rights Award. He served as associate director of White House Fellowships in the mid-1990s. He is a graduate of the Washington College of Law at American University and Trinity College in Hartford.
