Discuss current issues with other motivated individualsGlobalization has significantly bettered the standard of living in many countries, by spurring economic growth and by disseminating ideas that protect individual rights. But what about the concerns that globalization marginalizes the poor, harms the natural environment, or degrades human culture? Is free market capitalism a help or a hindrance when it comes to economic development around the world? What can we do to promote prosperity?

Join us as we address these issues and explore interdisciplinary solutions. Lectures will include topics such as:

  • Globalization and cultural autonomy
  • Human rights and famine relief
  • Economics, public choice and politics
  • Immigration and remittances
  • Entrepreneurship and local wealth creation
  • Cultural change from ancient to modern times
  • A case study in development: Botswana vs. Zimbabwe
