Deadline: January 31, 2011

/uploadedImages/IHS/Internships/Koch_Summer_Fellow_Program/KSFP guy outside capitol(1).jpgThrough the federal policy track of the Charles G. Koch Summer Fellow Program, you’ll gain experience at the national level by interning for a DC-based organization.

You’ll get to interact with federal legislators and staff. You might take part in trips to the hill to meet with staffers, attend congressional hearings, or help coordinate a nationwide mobilization campaign. During lunch or after work, you’ll be able to attend policy briefings and lectures of allied organizations.

Depending on your internship, you might leverage the media or policy journals to promote your organization’s research. You could help plan a press event or prepare a press release. You could help write a paper for a policy journal or publish your own.

The intensive ten-week program begins in June and includes a $1,500 stipend and a housing allowance. A limited number of travel scholarships are also available.

Program Dates: June 5 – August 13, 2010

Fellowship

Four at CATOKoch fellows based in Washington, DC, live in furnished housing provided by IHS. The housing environment gives fellows the opportunity to get to know each other and share stories about their internship experiences.

A Timely Opportunity

As the federal government increasingly influences areas once reserved to the states, working on federal policy has taken on increased importance. Interning at a think tank in Washington, DC, will give you the chance to learn about policy and many available career options. In one summer, the Koch Summer Fellow Program can give you the real-world experience you need in today's competitive job market.

"It was the best summer ever. I met an amazing group of people, many of whom I still keep in touch with, and I got to experience DC as an intern. The District is so accommodating to people our age, from happy hours to lunchtime lectures; it was an experience I'll cherish forever." - Bridget McNamee, Duke University School of Law

We have a rolling admissions process. Apply early to increase the chance you will get to intern at one of your preferred organizations.
