Sample State Policy Network HostsThe State Policy Track of the Charles G. Koch Summer Fellow Program, co-sponsored by the State Policy Network, gives you the opportunity to gain experience in the policy world at the state legislature level.

Working at a state policy think thank will bring you into the world of local government. Many of the most important policy decisions take place on the state level and you can be a part of this process by working at one of more than 45 organizations located in more than 30 states. You might work in your home state or get involved in another state to work on your favorite issues.

During your internship, you will help influence legislation and analyze regulations. You may work on campaign strategies and mobilization techniques using traditional tools and new media options such as blogs, podcasts, and social networking. You might help publish articles, editorials, or letters in state or local papers, and likely publish your own essay. The range of responsibilities depends on your host organization. "The Koch Summer Fellow Program really helped me expand my knowledge and strengthen my beliefs about free markets and liberty through interesting discussions and fun activities. I especially enjoyed my internship at a state-based think tank, where I gained valuable contacts and real world experience in public policy." – Jessica Johnson, Missouri State University

The intensive ten-week program begins in June and includes a $1,500 stipend and a housing allowance. A limited number of travel scholarships are also available.

Program Dates: June 5 – August 13, 2010
